T-Mobile Will Shutdown 3G Network In October 2021

To keep pace with the latest 5G Technology T-Mobiles is working in the United States. T-Mobile has not shown clear plans to shut down 3G networks. Now They have again made announcements related to the 3G network shutdown that are detailed below.

T-Mobile and Sprint officially became one company in 2020. After which T-Mobile's service customers received notices that explained the company will shut down Sprint's CDMA network on almost January 1, 2022. After which, devices supporting Sprint’s LTE connectivity will continue working but CDMA-only phones will not connect.

Dates announced by T-Mobile are as follows:

  • From 1st January CDMA-only devices & phones without T-Mobile VoLTE would no longer work.
  • All new activations for devices that only support T-Mobile 2G or 3G beginning January 30 will be blocked.
  • T-Mobile's UMTS 3G network is announced to close from 1st  October.
  • T-Mobile's (Sprint's) CDMA 3G network will follow "on or around January 1, 2022."
  • T-Mobile's 2G network would be the last to go on December 31, 2022.

T-Mobile in the letter said: 

capacity and coverage of the existing 2G & 3G network will change between now & the full shutdown.
